To help me give a compelling arguement to the missus for bringing my Vett to Australia, can anyone tell me - more or less - what a C6 2005 Model black, coupe with automatic transmission is worth in Australia - once the mirror conversion has been completed?

As some sort of guide, here is what some people are asking for 2005 and 2006 vettes on carsales.com.au:

2005 Auto $145,000 (private)

2006 Auto $186,000 (private)

2006 Manual $245,000 (dealer)
It's C3 chromie for me, see? Si!

What people are asking for a car and what you should pay for a car  are two different things.

My back of the envelope calculation for a DIY import ...drive away...  price from your RAWS dealer for a brand new 2007 Convertible Corvette with LT2 option pack is $150,000.... based on an exchange rate of $A1 = $US88c:
a. car - $62000
b. US state sales tax(exempt??) = $4600
c. shipping = $3000
d. Marine Insurance= $1100
e. Import Duty(15%?) = $10500
f. GST(10%) = $8100
g. Luxury Car Tax = $7200
h. Transport to Converter = $100
i. Conversion to RHD by RAWS = $35000
j. Registration & State Stamp Duty(??) = $1320
k. Comprehensive Insurance = ???
l. various addititional costs = $1000

My best case for a DIY importer  is.....

for a brand NEW 2007 Convertible 2LT is ..... Drive away with no more to pay is $A 128,000

And while ya at it ... include $10,000 to go take delivery and do a self-drive coast to coast holiday.

if you want a starting point, pick your brand new convertible here...  http://www.chevrolet.com/   .... drive your dream.

Using the same envelope back for a DIY import, a brand new 2007 Z06 (fully optioned) should cost around ...  $178,250 or so, landed, RHD converted, drive away, no more to pay....

a. Z06 $92375,
b. US State Sales Tax(7.5%) ??? = 6920
c. Shipping $3000,
d. Marine Insurance $1550,
e. Import Duty $15600,
f. GST $11950,
g. Luxury Car Tax $16900,
h. Transport to RAWS $100,
h. RAWS RHD Conversion $35000,
i. Registration & State Stamp Duty(??) $1320,
j. Comprehensive Insurance ???
k. Incidentals $1000

These figures are rough and based on a $A1=US88c exchange rate.
