Also if a new motor and trans are in the car's future you'd be far better off doing it there as opposed to here. Then the car can be imported "as is" thus negating any further expense once over here as well as any engineering hassles from our beloved RTA officials.

U should know that 3221 1980 cars HAD computers- they were even more basic than the 1981. These were the californian 305's. I don't know how much of a put off that is. I still dont know wheather my computer works or not and dont really care becoz the rest of the car works.
The limited stuff I have read about it is if start disconnecting the EGR and other computer related stuff it will result in a rich condition which is rectified by re-jetting.

I understand that the californian computer was because of emission control...
i don't really plan on getting a californian vette... just doesn't tickle my fancy.
