Corvette Z06 LS7
« on: August 28, 2007, 11:37:36 AM »
The LS7 is the 427 version of the GM LS-X range of engines.

The factory quote 505HP when fitted to a Z06 Corvette.

On our dyno the Z06 made 416rwhp, that is a completely stock engine with cast manifolds and the cats attached to the manifolds. The engine idles at 640rpm and has a redline of 7100rpm. The engine is smooth and tractable and in the Corvette the clutch, steering are light. Also this engine in the Corvette has a dry sump lubrication to enable the engine to sit lower in the engine bay. With the engine located behind the front wheel centre line and the gearbox/diff as a transaxle located in the rear gives the Corvette 50/50 weight distribution.

A very impressive engine that gives super car performance! In the Corvette case 315kmh and 11.7 1/4 miles times, we cannot verify does times but can tell you that at Wakefield park the car lapped in 1m11s and with a bit more practice it would be possible to do under 1m10s. It would be interesting to see what a professional could get out of the car. At Wakefield the only cars faster where trailered 427 Cobras with race exhausts and slicks, which made the quite vette (the std VE SS was louder down the straight) a real stand out. The car brakes where up to the performance and the std road tyres at 40psi performed well.

Driving the car in peak hour traffic was no problem as we crawled up the M5 often reaching 40kph.... The car has excellant visibility and it looks like a vette from the driver seat.

We will be doing a few mods on this car shortly and will keep you informed.

You need a better driver. I do 1:10s at Wakefield on street tyres in an '01 Z06 you dyno'd at 340RWHP.

An LS7 late model Z06 with 415RWHP should eat me.

I am with you ZEDohSIX he must be sleeping,i have squeezed out a 1:08.9 in the old mans ZR1 and a 1:08.5 in my 85.
and madvet has run 1:05.8 in his 86 vette.
to run a 1:10;laugh in a C6 ZO6 he must be really struggling i suggest he gets some driving lessons for fathers day because thats embarassing.
the car should be in the 1:05 easily

:funI will bring a stock 86 to Wakefield and lets see what times you run?

BTW the track had been wet for a couple of days and was'nt drying out. ON THE DAY a race Cobra with turbo 427 was not as fast as you guys, so you guys must be legends.;42

I have attached a copy of the time sheet that shows the time madvet ran in his sightly worked 86, if you gave him a stocker 86 he would easily run 1:09 because he really can drive.and yes i do agree that the Z06 is stock but it also has 20 years of technology more than the horse and carts we are throwing around.so what i am saying is that 1:10 in a car like the Z06 is not a very good time, but that doesnt mean he wasnt having a GOOD TIME and that is what really counts.;46
so send him out for some more practice and lets get his times down where they should be.

With no cynicsm intended (I know everyone who's posted in this thread thusfar as a friend and know what you have all run) I can say with certainty I'm going to get my ass handed to me next time we all line up at Wakefield Park. ;53

SR Performance, I'm looking forward to seeing how development on this car progresses. ;42  Being a fresh car with low kms on the odometer I expect times will drop in due course.
