First thing to do with my C4?

;42 Yeah thanks for the welcome. The carrier that's shipping my car has said that it's not a problem putting parts in their containers for me.

No charge unless its an engine/diff which is fair.

The car will ship later mid week so I have time to source parts and have them delivered.

It's been a long time coming but I finally have bought a VETT.

In WA if the car is PRE - 1988 we can register it as `LHD.

I have talked to alot of people and the advice has been to keep it LHD.

Plus it also ads to the 'uniqueness' of the car.

I love reading this forum, some really helpful insights and advice.

I'll post some photos when it arrives and the work I do to it.

One thing I will ask is the compadibility of the Holden Chev Engine and our 350's?

Thanks all!

JUST OUT OF CURIOSITY,how much does it cost to bring a car over from the states now?and how did you go about organising the shipment?;54

;26 I called a company called 'Autoeasy Search' in Melbourne.

They were only too happy to answer all of my 'dumb novice' questions regarding freight, paperwork etc.

They also do pre-inspections etc

Check their website http://www.autoezysearch.com.au/

I'm about half way in my importation, BUT when it's completed I'll definately let you know. All I can say is so far so good.

There are so many companies importing and the only advice I would give is to ask ANY question you can think of like;

Do they do all the paperwork required?

How are the cars packed? Are they coated with an anti - moisture coat on the body?

Does the container stay with the same ship or does it go on a couple ships? Is the car shipped direct to Australia from California and/or New York?

Is the car insured during transit? What is the TOTAL transit time?

Has the company got an ABN number and what are the 'up front' costs?

Do they give you a list of former customers that you can contact for references?

Do they clean and detail the car for you when it gets here?

Yeah I asked all these questions and MORE !!!!

I figure your money is important and we all work hard for it so don't give it away .....

I guess it's always a risk when you import .... just try to minimise it as much as you can .....

Hope that helps?

Serpentine belt drive uses a Vette only water pump (expensive)

Depending on whether it is early or late '86 may be common iron head Chev engine; all normal SBC parts fit.

If late '86 with alum heads then lots of unique parts  only found in '86-'91 TPI engines (Camaro / Firebird / Vette )
.Different crank, flexplate, valve gear, rocker covers, etc
Only Vettes got alum heads
