First thing to do with my C4?

Hi all ....

I just bought myself a 1986 C4 Vett which is on its way to Perth from California.

It's about a month away before it gets here.

It has a good service history. As I am fussy with my cars I was going to change the oil, plugs, filter(s), leads etc, also flush the cooling, convert the Air and service the transmission.

The car has about 170,000 KMS on the clock. Is there anything else you would advise to replace and/or service?

I thought maybe its the time to do bushes etc as well. I'm keep the car LHD and am in no rush to get it licenced.

Also, can forum members recommend a decent place in OZ to get parts?

If not, what about the states?

I know there is mid west corvette and ecklers, what are your experiences?

regards

Darren :)

For parts in OZ There is Corvette Alterations, Phone 9971 8218, will also get good advice regarding corvettes.
I find Corvette Central in the States have a good range of parts, also Dr Rebuild.
Note club members get up to 25% discount at Ecklers.
The killer is the freight cost from the States.
There is a listing on this forum somewhere regarding OZ part suppliers

Vette Obsessed:
With those sort of miles on the cars I'd be checking the wheel bearings if they haven't already been done.

They are not a servicable unit and come as a hub assembly so they aren't cheap, but if you get quality ones they should see you well enough over 100,000 miles. ;42

C4's are pretty dependable cars mechanically.

If you had the car in the States I would have suggested buying any parts you wanted before it went int the container and sending the parts along with the car...
