quick question.
nifty:
what year vette is the first to need compliance plate for aussie conversion?is this plate if fitted and complied recognised in all states?
reserved:

I would guess that all conversions would need a complience plate.
However over 30 years old no conversion is needed and therefor no complience plate is needed. But vechicles must comply with regulations up to the year of manufacture.
I think.
;wtf

I am of the understanding that all C4 compliance plates have been withdrawn by the Federal RTA. Only private inported C4's can now be registered.
So it looks like only C5 or later has to have a compliance plate.
But I also agree with "reserved" whether or not you have to have a compliance plate and whether or not your vehicle is left or right hand drive or 30 years plus old all vehicles have to comply with Australian Standards.

Not sure how it works cause in WA its only 15 years or less!

reason im asking is if a vette is bought in another state, how easy is it to get rego in another state.
my falcon came from sydney to s.a... took n.s.w. plates into r.t.a. and they swapped them.now i heard from another s.a. vette owner with a r.h.d 68 convert.he got it from qld and had a real hard time getting s.a. rego.cost him about 2k in inspection fees.but there are 2 vettes in town that i know of that had no such problems, both came from n.t. but were originally from s.a.
