Hi all, don't know if this will help as I don't know if we have polluted Australia with our home supply stores yet :b2 but if you are doing this job the heat barrier is basically the small bubble wrap with foil on both sides.

Finally the old nasty carpet is out! From the looks of it, it was the original carpet and it was nasty and faded, and so brittle you could poke your finger through it.

On a suggestion from bobchad I went down to Lowes and bought a roll of Reflectix, they have different sizes but I got the 24"x25' roll so I would have plenty of it just in case, good thing too as I used every bit. For $24 it sure beats those $100+ kits. Also picked up a roll of aluminum tape, bringing the total to a whopping $33. Thanks Bob! :D

This stuff is easy to work with as Bob noted, cut a length of it and mold it in then just trim as needed then seal it up with the tape.

I also bought new rear storage doors(complete) from Dewitts, it showed up promptly and looks fantastic! I can't install it yet as I'm still waiting on my carpet which I ordered the very same day, hopefully it arrives tomorrow or I'll be quite :mad as I'm supposed to be at a show Saturday.

I went the opposite route. I bought some rubber/foam back insulation and glued it to the underside of the floor and tunnel back to the start of the seats. My exhaust is only an inch away from the floor in one point so I figured why insulate from the inside when the floor will still get hot. I have rivets with penny washers holding it up as well as some alum strips riveted on in case the glue fails in 5yrs.

I'm still going to do the inside as well! :b2

Thanks, but I don't know if I have enough patience to do both, just ask Brutus how patient I am while driving...of course I was normal until I spent time driving in Florida.

69DR...yeah it's the same stuff....Scott and I were discussing it the other day just before he went tropo and tore his old carpets out. I've got some left over from when I built my home additions. Gotta be a damn sight cheaper that the authentic stuff.

The foam backed insulation I got is $24 per metre (1m wide). I don't have any heat at all now. ;35

You can also buy rubber for the inner guard (a-arms) for $22 per metre (you need about 70 cm). I also used a rubber seal from them for the hood seal.

I ditched the rubber for the inner guards even tho I had new replacements from Ecklers. Didn't like the way it cluttered up the inner guards so instead I made up some aluminium strips to go in their place around the ridge.

I'll probably go ahead and do mine when my son gets round to making up my new carpets. I was going to put the Recaros in as well, but I'm going to give them to my daughter to fit into her "new" EH that she bought yesterday. It wasn't a bad buy considering it has a 5 speed Celica box and 4 wheel disc brakes as well as a 192 donk in it.
Now I need to find some more seats for my car again.:b2

ITS ONLY $21 DOLLARS A SQ METER,I BOUGHT 2 SQM .PUT IT ON THE FIREWALL DOWN UNDER THE FEET.GLUED IT ALL DOWN WITH LOCTITE TRIM CEMENT & DID ALL THE EDGES WITH ALUMINIUM TAPE AND ALSO AL THE JOINS.IT LOOKS VERY GOOD AND PROFESSIONAL! I'VE GOT PLENTY LEFT FOR THE INTERIOR WHICH IS NEXT ON THE LIST.;)
