Did You Know.....

Waz In Oz:
Yeah, that's the one.  Though it looks a little golder than when it was in our club.

Billyray:
Howdy, Bill Jr here.
Yes, its my old car.  And before that, Mr Jimmy Barnes did own it for several years.  He had bought it from an importer named Bob Thomas, who specialised in bringing in old, crusty Vettes and selling them for cubic dollars to the rich and famous.  A blue 59 owned by John Laws was another high profile car.
A couple of years ago, the '62 was bought off me by a guy called Dave in Brisbane for his wife (he's got a C5 and a tripower C3, so you could say he's into Corvettes).  Somewhere along the line she decided it was too hard to drive (she's used to driving a Celica), so they went the whole C4 suspension upgrade route.  And then it sort of snowballed and now the car is totally rebuilt (again).  Some of the custom stuff on the car is amazingly cool.  I've not seen the car in person yet, but from the pics, its a jaw dropper.  Its an odd feeling to totally re-do a car, then have someone else re-do it "their way".   Not a bad feeling, just odd, sorta like seeing an ex-girlfriend get married to someone else.  Props to Dave for pulling off the first real "pro show" Corvette since Frank Rejitanos SMIK64.
Yes, the colour is different - its darker than the "original" shade of Fawn Beige that we did the car in.  Its some sort of kustom mix, one of the first cars to be done in this sort of paint in Australia.
Some pics of the car now are at http://www.ldikustoms.com.au/ and I'm sure Dave (as an ex-Computer dude) will have his own website blog of the rebuild set up one day.
For a historical standpoint, some pics of the car when I owned it are at http://www.artandcolour.com.au/corvette

It would be interesting to see how many people on this forum like the car
a) as it is now (jaw dropping show car) or
b) as it was when I owned it (fawn beige/red weekender) or
c) red on red basher when Jimmy owned it.

No prizes for guessing my choice.

Bill Jr.
Still planning on doing another C1 Vette.  One day, when the prices come back down.

Well bugger me.  The man himself.  It's a pleasure to make you acquaintance squire.  Damm fine machine.  Here is a link with more pics from the MoterEx show http://www.nswcorvettes.com.au/photos/richardgriffiths/motorex06/index.htm in case you have not seen them.

Would you like me to set up a pole on: -

a) As it is now (jaw dropping show car) or
b) As it was when I owned it (fawn beige/red weekender) or
c) Red on red basher when Jimmy owned it.

It might be some fun.  People can vote and a bar graph would show up with the results.

Car WAS originally Fawn Beige, but I was unable to track down any history prior to its importation to Aust, back in the late '80s.

Cameron 77C3:
Thanks for that.

I'll set the pole up and see if we can have some fun.
