Brutus:
Hopefully next year I can allow myself the time to finally put my little collection of engine parts together and finally get some decent oomph into my motor.
The rear end has already been completely rebuilt and modified to suit with new Richmond 3.7 diff gears as well as my own 6 link conversion. Check it out here if you haven't seen it before. http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c3/brutus//6linkin0001.jpg
Anyhow all the parts I've collected during my various jaunts to the US are now just about ready to be assembled into one single throbbing entity. ( I think I just excited myself then.;laugh ).
If anyone would care to predict the ultimate power figures I'm likely to expect then feel free to give it a shot. Please don't bother with Kw or Nm....I prefer good old Hp and Tq cause I'm of the old school too........very old if you ask my kids.
;ay

Let's start fromt the top:-
: Q jet will probably be kept, but with full rejetting to match the expected performace of the car. Maybe TPI in the future.
: Edelbrock Performer manifold w/o EGR valve. I've polished the outside of the intake runners and dedurred the inside.
: AFR aluminium 180 CNC (68 cc chambers) machined heads complete with guide plates and double valve springs (matched to the cam)and with no heat crossover. http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c3/brutus//newheads.jpg
:1.5:1 roller tipped rocker arms and hardened push rods. (May consider changing the inlets to 1.6).
: Comp Cams XE 262 cam and lifters....218/222 dur. @ 50 thou.
: Pete Jackson NOISY gear drive. Gonna love this.
: 30 thou over Hypereutechtic flat top pistons(valve refiefs only). Balanced of course.
: Balanced and resized standard con rods, but with ARP rod bolts.
: Mellings high volume oil pump.
: US designed (built by Lars...ask if you've not heard of him) recurve distributor kit w/- 8.8 Accell spiral wound custom leads and Petronix cap and rotor button. Accell Hi Perf. coil.
: Hooker Headers' sidepipes with 4" tubes and JCL baffles instead of mufflers.

Well I think that's it. All this will hopefully be backed up with a tricked 700 R4 or 200R overdrive trans fitted with one of those nifty B&M Mega Shifters with the short lever.....Got one of those already too.
Ok that's it for now......any ideas or comments?

How will the Hookers fit?  Won't the steering box interfere or have you moved the engine over?

Why a HV oil pump?  Is it adjustable pressure?

Spend a $100 and port match the intake to the heads!  It's worth it.  Those heads are beaut's.

Balance everything - it is worth the $$!

What compression are you running?  At a guesstimate with 9 - 9.5 comp you should have an easy 250 rwhp.

Chris...The Hookers will have to be modified on the driver's side to clear the steering, but I have a guy to handle that as well as supplying the side pipes for the baffles. These things really free up the HP. Check them out here and have a listen to them too.

I want at least 300 hp+ at the rear wheels so before I get into it I'll probably end up selling some of the parts I've already bought and get other parts to replace them. That will mean the new Edelbrock Performer intake, Hypereutectic pistons and the Comp Cams XE 262 cam kit will have to go. With the new room I now have with the hood scoop I've moulded in I'll have room for a different intake. Probably an RPM Air Gap. Then I might opt for a full hydraulic roller camshaft and a 383 stroked crank and piston set. Think that might do it?;laugh

Where were you when I spent my money on that stuff 18 months ago?
