88 master...
Stingraynut:
PBR were very helpful, the kit part number is K8346X and is supposed to be for an 86-88 vette.
I'll report back when the job is done
Thanks for all the help here.

jolinari:
pleasure :)
MADVET:
It seems unusual that PBR list the same part number for 86-88 when according to the Ponti-world website it appears that the 88 M/C is different to the 86-87 M/C. They may well use the same kit however it might be worth checking.
Vette Obsessed:
From memory the reservoirs are different.
86-87 has one reservoir which feeds both front and rear ports while 88-90 has two seperate reservoirs (one for each port).
Both should be interchangable. I have a single reservoir on my car after the workshop that changed it in about 1999 (before I started doing my own work) used an earlier reservoir...

G'day.. I just saw this and figured theres room for a bit of help... ..
1st: Its BRAKES your dealing with .. not a stereo or a gear knob... and as your life, your passengers and everybody else on the road depends on "Brakes".. never lone your car itself.. why are we so close to the mark on this stuff.. Regardless of who has what at what price.. its tough when your car doesn't start.. but deadly when it doesn't stop... ..
.. enough of the lecture.. you don't need it.. your all wise enough.
The 7/8th bore PBR M/Cyl, ( which are produced under strict USA GM Licensee hence why PBR here will not normally sell them) used on 86-87 Corvettes is different in the body then the 88. I just did up picture to help show it clearly and posted it up here... .
Price wise.. from say Ecklers.. they are . .while stil in the USA so plus freight etc.
86-87 model (brand unknown - just not stated) US$200 = about A$278 ++
No remanufactured listed.
A 86-87 Brake master Cylinder kit is shown..(not interchangable with 88) at US$99.99. about A$138++
Locally at ... www.usgmsp.com they pretty well priced even in simple direct comparison... and considering they are HERE for next or same day delivery. .. with a local backup etc.. .. these A$273 , brand new.. GM /PBR original in the box done.... ....Delivered on line. Less then Ecklers in the USA, even before delivery etc.
A 86-87 Vette m/Cyl kit is not worth importing up against the next item.
A USA remanufactured M/cyl less resevior (reuse your original) is listed on www.usgmsp.com for A$185.90 .. delivered - exchange unit required within 3 weeks or $75 corec charge paid. These US Remanufactured units have proved faultless & are another priced alternative too...
The 1988 model is a one year only master.. (like many '88 Corvette parts) and is the same price at Ecklers USA of A$278+ delivery etc These are Brand is GM / PBR / Delco.
No remanufactured listed.
No master cylinder Kit is shown or listed.
Localy at www.usgmsp.com they are stocked & listed $364 ... they are dearer wholesale then the 86-87 models... These are brand new GM/PBR/ Delco.
www.usgmsp.com has also USA proffessionally remanufactued units listed & stocked at A$204.
No Master Cylinder kit is listed by GM or any other manufacturer that we now of for the 88 Vette.
All prices from www.usgmsp.com are already GST'd as well... unfortunately...
. .Thats all I wanted to point out.. ... there are always examples that can tilt either ways.. but the more important thing here is GOOD BRAKES DON"T REALLY COST THAT MUCH.... and should not be economised on..
;38 (sorry..... I don't mean to lecture.. probably just getting old and worry for some peoples sake etc)
