Adam:
great links 77cvt, looks like itll be easiest to takes somones combo and copy it.
When i was 10 I put together my first computer, putting an engine together is probably somthing I have to do. Well the boreing out somone else can do with a machine.
Crate motor sounds expensive....
I'm more of a stop light hero, but I kno no amount of work that I do will match my dads yamaha v-max anyway, so I know if I have a real need for speed, ill ride that.
I took a look under a few late model c3's at the show and it seems my pipes are fatter than all of them, suprising but at least I wont have to upgrade.

Ever heard the saying, "Build for torque and let horsepower take care of itself"?
Like a computer, you have to make sure all the parts work together. If you have the time and a couple of extra $$, getting things done like a line bore, the block decked, all parts balanced will make it last a long long time. (Although with decking the block you could lose your engine No's)
And yeah, those mid 70's cat converters sure do have a habit of falling off! ;)
Adam:
I have'nt heard of that saying actually, and im a little weary of it...
My uncles 351 Bronco was "made for torque", unfortunatly HP has'nt taken care of itself. 500Nm and 200HP. It may pull a huge boat, but not very quickly (not that youd want to I guess). But even with a moderate 1 ton trailer load, a Nissan 4.8 Patrol will beat it up any hill. Of course the nissan has 5 gears vs. 3.
But I digress, keeping in mind my 3 speed situation theres gotta be some balance that works, thats somones tried...
Although I'm not planning to tow regurlarly with the vette, the thought had crossed my mind, anyone know where I can get a tow bar kit for an 1980?
Adam
77CVT:
Good point. I guess that saying means don't just go for the big HP because you need torque to get you going, especially with an auto.
Don't forget torque includes considering the gearing!
As for a tow bar on a 'vette ....:b4:b4:b4:b4 Leave that for the soilid axel cars! :)
