BUY A DECENT ENGINE YOU GUYS!
69 DIRTY RAT:
What do you call a Pontiac Big Block? Is it an Indian related name, BUFFALO perhaps ? I found out the other day that a Mopar ( Chrysler, dodge etc) Big Block is call an ELEPHANT Motor! yes its true! I think I'd rather be a RAT Motor!
TIPPA:
Elephants are STRONGER and more POWERFUL than a RAT... They just p#iss themselves 24hrs a day thats all ;41 As for Big Block Pontiac motors i'd be interested to find out more about them and why your Chev Corvette has one in it?! Sounds a really interesting combo and kinda cool really!;-) Ithink i've seen your car at other club runs so if you are going up to the brisbane show ill be sure to check it out.
Vette Obsessed:
Based on my elephant motor experience they are nothing to sneeze at. Being able to spin the tyres (at will) at 80mph is fun...;41
TIPPA - nobody outside of the Rat Pack has seen 69DR's car (or his engine). We outsiders still aren't sure if either exists or if they are products of the Rat Pack propaganda machine...:an;41 ;-);-);-)
GAS.455:
Pontiac Block are the exact same physical size from 350-455.
So there is no such thing as a small block/Big Block Pontiac.
There are now a few aftermarket blocks out now....
Indian Adventures....which is an Iron Block....can be taken out over 600ci.
All Pontiac/Butler Performance has just released an Alumnium Block.....which is US$4700...and is on my shopping list.
A traditional Pontiac block/crank really can't handle over 900HP....which is why I'm looking at the Aluminum block....and Billet crank.
Mine is a 455 stroked out to 474ci.....It should have about 600-650HP at the flywheel....just waiting to get it on the dyno when I sort out the little problems.
Pontiac performance parts are harder to come by...and are always alot more expensive than Chev/Ford.....
And in Australia...there is not too many High performance Pontiac powered cars out here...most go the Chev route as it is easier and cheaper to get performance stuff.
I like to be a little different.
You can check out
Butler Performance
Which is where I buy all my stuff from.
My corvette....is only a mouse.....very very mild at 160HP at the wheels.
Gas

Sorry VO, i meant i think i've seen GAS.455 out and about before. As for that other mythical beast... well i hear it will at least have an awesome set of wheels :evil
And Gas- as for that alloy block- awesome isn't it! wonder if those twin snails on the side of the test engine would fit down low between a vette's block and radiator :20:20
