Mick...the paint on the 64 is acrylic and if it weren't for the few flaws in the body I'd be reasonably happy with the paint as it is, but since I will have to fix these nicks I will be stripping the whole shell and starting from scratch.
Of course it will be black again with possibly some silver stripes over the top, but I will almost certainly do it in acrylic again. Reason being, it's easy to spray, easy to cut and maintain and I can do it all myself with no fear of contaminating either myself or the precious ozone.

that makes me feel much better about my decision of getting the car painted in acrylic, heaps of people have been trying to talk me out of it but i want acrylic basically for the same reasons. I just never see 2-pak look as flat as acrylic eg:- orange peel.

I've colour sanded both 2 pack and acrylic paints and it's all but impossible to get a perfect finish on the 2 pack paint due to the inherrent toughness of the finish and don't let anyone kid you that 2 pack is perfect as it is straight off the gun either.
You can be the worst spray painter around but still make a decent go of an acrylic finish if you have the patience to do a good job of colour sanding it.
You'll find that most of the trick paint jobs in the US these days are done with acrylic anyhow.
