Thanks BFit. All of your tips were enormously helpful. Thanks again! For the forum, balancer is off via creating a semi-fake bearing against the end of my crank with a series of greased washers. Worked a treat to reduce friction and ensure that I didn’t damage my crank threads with the nose of my puller.
Last question (me being a tight-ass)...  any cheats for rotating my engine when the balancer is removed. The correct tool is a crankshaft socket, but I don’t build engines regularly, so buying one is just one more (single use) tools that I probably don’t really need to buy. Any easy cheat suggestions? Modified ring spanner, simple insert to something else, or a tip for a location on a HD Plastic option?

Scott:
Just put the snout bolt back in and tighten it until it turns the engine.
As long as you are smooth, you can then remove it with a quick snap the other way.

Buy one of these PR66901, you will find one on eBay for $50,   No short cuts here ,  if the alternative methods go wrong it can get very  expensive!

Hi Guys,
Update on my COVID-Quest.  Thanks to some really handy tips from you guys, I have my camshaft grind number.  Ive searched the Crane Cams Master Catalog (USA version), however still don’t know what I’ve got.  The numbers are hand ground (not stamped) and read:
11-28-93 at the top,
“CRANE” in the lower middle, and
TR-250-400-2-6

I’ve sent a note to one of the Crane Cams Tech guys in the USA, however if someone on the forum has a good cheat sheet to decipher, that would be awesome - the suspense of this exercise is like that pre-burnout feeling 😂
