C4 1990 Steering wheel and column.
« on: October 13, 2018, 03:57:21 PM »
Anyone with a 90 model C4.

Could you advise if the steering wheel/column has telescopic ability.

Seen Chain & Bar conversions out of Vic that does the tilt, but no telescopic ability.

I put this down to the chain&bar setup.

But would appreciate any info. I cant see it as an option for 88 thru 90 cars.

Regards.

Mmm sounds like the old BDSM system, chains and bars, so,there should be some degree of tilt one way or the other.

Yeah it tilts as per usual, but NO telescopic.

Obviously there are no 90 ~ 96 C4's out there in Oz.

Else they would let me know.

Think about it.

Chain and Bar.

So it's only the top half or what ever.

Aha! I've just been told Gary Cartright is selling his C4 track car, and I see the bonnet has gone, most likely to Joe.

The 90 was great for a "little girl " to get in and drive, but for 6'1" its taking some getting used to.

Like sitting in a rocket sled.......

Regards.

The telefunction is above the tilt function in column so it should still work if it was available. Does it have the original wheel or after market.

Yeah, I'm used to 78 and 87, lower LH lever for tilt and the little turn lever on top but under the horn pad.

This has the tilt lever, and tilts, but cant find the tele.

I'm pretty sure the steering wheel is correct, but I'll do a Gooooogcle.

Tks.

Yes there is an Airbag in the top of the steering wheel.

You can see the tilt lever.

I felt all around and theres no other device other than the key/lock and the combination wipers/cruise /blinker lever.

My buyers guide covers 90 but gives no info.

I believe the steering wheel and column top & hardware are all correct - so NO telescopic.

But after reading other text, I believe all 90's are equiped with switchable ride control.

A three position switch on the DASH that changes the ride, with the computer, speed and setting via this switch.

This was introduced in 88/89 for Z51/2 and then std equip on ZR1- then std on ALL 90 vettes.

But I have no switch, VIN # is correct. ?????.......... Any one with a 90 could come in here with much appreciated infoooo....

I have a solution for you, as they say listen close as I will only say this once.

You can utilise the alternative telescoping system supplied exclusively in the 1990 corvette.
It’s located under the seat it allows you to move the realitive position of the steering wheel to the driver with out the driver exiting the vehicle. Very convenient accessory.

Please note disclaimer
Some parts of the above may not be actually true.  Said in jest .!
