Website photos and general information
« on: September 06, 2018, 07:23:24 PM »
Hello members,

Recently it has come to my attention that there is frustration within our club that no pictures are being uploaded to the website while Facebook gets the photo's from club runs almost instantly.

I understand the frustration as I honestly do not want those who don't use Facebook to miss out on seeing available images. The problem I am having is that Facebook is much more user friendly and it is something that I understand how to use. Uploading images to this website is not, and I will be the first to admit that even with the instructions posted by Cam I don't have a clue how to upload images to this website.

I am receiving very DIRECT feedback regarding my lack of knowledge however, I would like to state very clearly, 'I am not responsible for this website and its operation'. I am not an I.T specialist, all I have done is to get the Facebook page up and running for the benefit of the members. Please do not send me messages regarding the operation of this website as I am in the dark like you.

The feedback I constantly get is as follows. 'Is it that hard to upload photos from facebook to the website!" My response to this question is, 'YES it is that hard!' I wont tolerate critics in this area as I have never stated that I play any role in the operation of the website.

Now in saying that, I would like to see the website upgraded in future so that it can be made more user friendly. This however will ultimately be up to the members. It is possible of course to have a professional website builder to update and create more ease of use with our website or we may have a member that can help in this area. I would like to add that Cam has done an amazing job over the years of holding this website together and I do not have anything but praise for Cam and his continued assistance with the site. However as technology changes we need to change also to keep the website fresh and easy to do what the website is designed to do, share information, converse with each other and share photos.

These are just my thoughts of course and I am not speaking on behalf of the club president or committee members.

For those of you who have shown your gratitude for my part in Facebook, I appreciate your kind words and I will always do my best for this club and its future.

Thankyou.

Luke Duggan.

Just thought I would chine in Luke.

I understand exactly where you are comming from. I can pull things apart and as long as I have  a cct  diagramm I can fix and or repair.

But computer configuration, set ups, use, manipulating etc allways leaves me cold.

People do expect a lot from club officials, whilst quiet often white anting in the background, even deliberately trying to make us look hapless.

Where all volunteers, we dont get paid, and we try our best.

The original reason I got facebook, was to keep track of my older kids and the grandchildren. Otherwise I would not know what they are up to.
Now of course you have given me another reason to log onto fb.

Contrary to whatever comments you are getting, you are doing a good job, keep up the good work.
I doo prefer the "forum" when it comes to techo etc discussion, but thats my personal preference.
The fact that I cant get pics onto the forum is ..........
