Photos of club runs and general running of the website

Luke Duggan:
Hello members,

Recently it has come to my attention that there is frustration within our club that no pictures are being uploaded to the website while Facebook gets the photo's from club runs almost instantly.

I understand the frustration as I honestly do not want those who don't use Facebook to miss out on seeing available images. The problem I am having is that Facebook is much more user friendly and it is something that I understand how to use. Uploading images to this website is not, and I will be the first to admit that even with the instructions posted by Cam I don't have a clue how to upload images to this website.

I am receiving very DIRECT feedback regarding my lack of knowledge however, I would like to state very clearly, 'I am not responsible for this website and its operation'. I am not an I.T specialist, all I have done is to get the Facebook page up and running for the benefit of the members. Please do not send me messages regarding the operation of this website as I am in the dark like you.

The feedback I constantly get is as follows. 'Is it that hard to upload photos from facebook to the website!" My response to this question is, 'YES it is that hard!' I wont tolerate critics in this area as I have never stated that I play any role in the operation of the website.

Now in saying that, I would like to see the website upgraded in future so that it can be made more user friendly. This however will ultimately be up to the members. It is possible of course to have a professional website builder to update and create more ease of use with our website or we may have a member that can help in this area. I would like to add that Cam has done an amazing job over the years of holding this website together and I do not have anything but praise for Cam and his continued assistance with the site. However as technology changes we need to change also to keep the website fresh and easy to do what the website is designed to do, share information, converse with each other and share photos.

These are just my thoughts of course and I am not speaking on behalf of the club president or committee members.

For those of you who have shown your gratitude for my part in Facebook, I appreciate your kind words and I will always do my best for this club and its future.

Thankyou.

Luke Duggan.

Luke if members wish to or want to post photos on the forum, they will work it out , it’s not that hard.
Now that there is a face book page for the club I would think in time it will take the place of the forum, the only thing I see wrong with using the Facebook is that , when looking for old post it is difficult unless you like the post, to save it to your own history.
 My opinion is
Any one putting  their hand up to advanve the club,  needs to have back up from the club community

Luke,

I am not a member and I've posted many photos here of various runs and events.  This is a forum, not really a website although forums may link to websites. Forums and websites do not run in the same manner as facebook; it's a totally different platform. I doubt there will ever be an easier way and this is one reason facebook has virtually killed most forums.

I used to be a member of many forums and have seen them come and go; the only forums with some life left in them are car forums and that's because forums have a much better search feature. You can't search for a phrase, etc. on facebook or dig up an old thread with any ease.

Forums have their place and facebook has its place.

If any member is frustrated that this forum doesn't feature the same photos as facebook there is one option; instruct that member to join the facebook group, otherwise have them direct their frustration to the person that posted the photos to facebook and have them (not you) tell that photographer to come here and post on the forum - he will most likely be told where to stick it. lol
You need permission from the photographer if you want to share their photos publicly so it's a legal minefield.

Enjoy the forum for what it is, enjoy facebook for what it is.
Each have their pros and cons and to get the best of both worlds at this point in time you have to join both; that is, while this forum is still around. Another Aus. Corvette forum based in Qld just died not so long ago.

Not hard to add images to posts here. Just use

I'm not fussed about photos on Facebook, but it's easy to post images on here.

Just use the Attachments and other options below the message text box (see my screenshot below).

If you have a truckload of them to upload, send them to Cam and he'll create an album of them.
