Rear C5 discs and calipers
« on: December 21, 2017, 05:24:35 PM »
Hi Everybody

Just wanted to find out if there is an equivalent say commodore rear disc and caliper that is a direct or easy conversion for a C5 hub etc?

I just bought an old commodore VT disc to try but the hat is way too deep plus the calipers mounts are very different.

If there is nothing where is the best place to buy a set from?

Thanks
Marcus

What are you trying to do.
If you want c5 calipers it’s possible I could has what you need

Hi Bfit

I am building a mid mount car and using the corvette rear suspension. I was hoping to use a commodore disc and caliper on the set up as they are cheap and easy to get. Otherwise I will have to use the corvette disc and caliper. My only problem then is the wheel size. Waqs hoping to use 16inch wheels. If I was going to use the corvette rear brake set up then obviously would then have to have the front brake set up too. From what I have read the front discs/calipers wont fit under 16's. If I could use commodore setup front and back they should fit under 16's. Other way is to use a spacer between the rear hub and commodore hub and make adaptor for caliper.  Hope that all makes sense.

16’’ wheels are going to,restrict the options
I haven’t tried the commodore rotors over the c5/c6 spindles . I will on the weekend to see what will fit
DBA have a really wide range of rotors  something will fit .
What wheels are you looking at using
Have you looked at c3 rotors and the commodore calipers, a few of the BMW rotors may work for you

That would be great if you have that stuff lying around to test with. I think the Commodore disc hat is too deep. What does everyone think about using a spacer between the disc and hub? Just thought commodore because they are cheaper. I definatly think the caliper bolts wont line up. Do C3 ones line up?
I was thinking of OX3001 wheels

Looking at the wheel you will need a deep off set rotor to get caliper clearance.

The front disc of a 2002 commodore will not fit.
The ID of the rotor is to small to clear the C5/6 hub.

Hmm Ok thanks for that. The rears of a VT nearly fit bit tight on handbrake. Plus caliper mount points are different.
Anyone got a set of rear calipers for a C5 for sale?
