Replacement 1973 SB Main and Big End Engine Bearings
(1/1)
The Phantom:
Hi. I was wondering if someone can assist me source replacement engine bearings for a 73 small block Corvette.
I have searched the internet and located a few suppliers but am having trouble interpreting the Corvette bearing model numbers to ensure I get the right replacement parts. I do not think I need anything oversized.
The main bearing numbering is DAB-83 8201-KL AL-584 D-61 7 21 D. The big end number is DAB-51 7555-K AL-586 D-61 7 21 P.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Regards,
Mike.

You should get your crank and rods inspected/tested/measured before you do anything else. If all is good then your machinist will tell you which size bearings to use.
This is inexpensive insurance by getting someone to check. I had my pistons and crank measured and crack tested, one piston had a hair line and the crank was junk. :grr: All came out of a running engine. Could get messy if there is something wrong with them and you slap it back together. :tears:
The Phantom:
Thank you. I will take your advice as I've already got the crank out.
bootlegger:
:if its a stock gm 350 it shoukd have a large journal crank. The bearing etc are cheap. As already advise get somebody to I spect the parts and if need be get them machined.
