Ashtray lid
« on: March 07, 2016, 12:56:55 PM »
Hi everyone.
I have this problem where every time I apply the brakes, the ashtray lid opens!

Not a big problem by any means but before I rip into it does anyone know if there is a spring that holds it closed?
its a '79

thanks in advance

Andy.

In the 78, thankfully that piece is out, else I would have had to disturb the chooks and mice. There is a spring ~8mm dia by ~20mm long with long ends - about 20mm each end. This is mounted under at the opposite end to the cigar lighter and is in  small hole in the lid, back to a hole in the plastic surround/plate. Cam wont let me do photo's, so, if you attend the mext run I could bring this piece of dash 4 u 2 look at. Let me know.
