New kid on the block.
« on: April 13, 2015, 09:27:08 PM »
Hello everybody. Just introducing myself.
Hallsy here. Not a member of the club yet but I will get a round toit.
I've just turned fifty six and have finally got my dream car thanks to a few circumstances.
I've been a lover of Vettes since I was a pre-teen young boy and now I have the most beautiful little '74 roadster. I call her Candy because of her candy apple red paint.
On top of the candy red are red phantom flames. She has a slightly warm Z3 motor and with the side pipes, makes heads turn to look at her.
She has been a show car but I don't intend to show her as my conscience wouldn't let me,I didn't do her up.
I live in the eastern Sydney suburbs and work shift work which limits my sociability.
I hope to get to go on some runs with you or meet you at gatherings or just cruising around.
Cheers and sunny skies to you all.
Hallsy.
I know that you believe you understand what you think I said.
But I am not sure you realise that what you heard is not what I meant.😱

Thanks for the warm welcome guys.
GTC,if I'm off work and I've finished making my under-floor heat shields, I'll be there. The hooker headers turn the interior into an oven after an hour. Bought some heat tape but haven't had time to wrap them yet.

72VET,I've tried to up-load pics (I love showing her off :-) ) but I use an iPad and my pics are to large.
If I can figure out how to make them smaller, I'll bombard you all, lol.

Just wondering, do you guys get overcharged for services, etc just because you have a Corvette or where you live?

Cheers,
Hallsy.

Just tried to up-load just one photo with no text but still too large, bugga.

Just on an aside,I took my gorgeous wife for lunch and a drive yesterday. On our way home I was looking forward to hearing Candy growling through the airport tunnel. Imagine my dismay when she was drowned out by some anti-social badass (arse..I'm Australian, lol) on a V-Rod. Candy is really loud with my foot down but wow that bike was loud.

It's convertible and it ain't raining so leave the roof down. Condsider it a foot warmer -- comes in handy in winter. :-)

You can avoid paying the 'Corvette Tax' if you go to the right people. Once you're in the Club you'll meet plenty of guys with tips in that regard.

Rain! What's that? If I see a cloud she's back in the grudge (garage). But seriously,it gets almost too hot to put my bare feet on the pedals. But yes,it'll be good in my hibernation months (I hate winter!!).

Re the Corvette tax. Better get my arse in gear and join up with you all.

P.S. Anyone got any ideas for minimising the capacity of my photo's? I mainly use my iPad and apple hold you ransom but I do have a PC which I rarely use (bought it for family photo's and family video's).

Oh,just to add. I have been going to the same mechanics with my other cars for about thirty years but I won't to my Vette there. I took it to a performance place specialising in Corvettes and stayed there all day while they dyno-tuned it. Yes,I'm paranoid.I don't want joy riders.

You can't get the old ACL stuff anymore, but the Payen stuff is pretty close.  I've got my mate grabbing me a sheet from repco.

Hello again all you gray car drivers. Yes,mine's a gray car too.....STINgray

I'm off tomorrow,so planning to join.

Heat sheets look good thanks for the tip. I'll give them a go if my home makes don't work.

260.8 hp at the wheels. Guys came from everywhere when she started singing, lol. She's not "Ratpack" material or even "Vermin" but I love her.

Wakefield (freeze your balls off ) Park....I pass it every time I go trail bike riding at my mates farm at Braidwood. I'll see if I'm off work and give it some thought.I'm very very interested....."I feel the need"....
Steve, from SR performance, who did my dyno has a couple of customer days down at Wakefield.
Hmmm,Houston,we seem to have a problem......with my bloody iPad.
I'll try logging off then on again.
