Just bought a C5 Z06
tonyg:
I'm happy to announce I'm now a Corvette owner and may meet you soon at a future event.
I have a few questions if anyone could help please:
1) The car only came with one key and remote control. How would I go about sourcing an additional set?
2) I may put a set of the new 12x6" rego plates on it. How does one pop the front plate cover off?
3) The rubber strips along the bottom of the door glass on the outside are pitted. I'm going to try rubbing them down and then using a rubber restoring product. If this fails, are they available from a reliable supplier you guys use?
4) The flat tyre inflation kit is missing. Any idea again where I could source something close to original kit?
Many thanks.

Hi Tony,
I look forward to seeing your car :thumb:
1/ Aaron @ wearegm@aol.com (a service parts distributor in California) is good at finding stuff for us. Email him, tell him you are a member of Corvettes NSW :nag: and he will look after you. He will initially need the VIN of the car to identify it fully.
2/ Dunno - never had them.
3/ Try Aaron if needed.
4/ The original tyre kit has a compact little pump and bunch of chemical goo that will have long expired. The pump is useful but I have just bought pressure cans of tyre sealant from any car parts store and carry that. As you might remember from my car, there are cheap rectangular buckets available (Bunnings...) that fit perfectly in the rear trunk cavities for this stuff.
tonyg:
Thanks for your prompt reply as usual.
I've emailed Aaron and will get a bucket and pressure cans as you suggest.
The left cavity in my trunk houses the battery actually.
I had fun driving back from Melbourne Tuesday after you explained where the filler cap release button was. I felt like a goose a the servo looking all over the place for it.
Averaged 8.3L/100km sitting on 110kph mostly which is pretty good. Those LS6 engines have some grunt so it should be fun. Shannons told me they can only give me cover on race tracks for defensive driving courses so I'll have to pursue that further.
Talk more soon.
Tony
Scott:
I for one want pics :) A C5 is on my want list for the future. For some reason I love cars with pop-up headlights.
tonyg:
I flew down to Melbourne Monday to collect my new car and drove it home with great pleasure on Tuesday. Tons of power yet very economical on the trip achieving 8.3L/100km. Thursday night I took it to our Buick club meeting for Show & Tell and everyone liked it I think.
