In that case, unless he's already left positive feedback for the transaction, there's the possibility that he'll leave a negative and report a non-payer, and you'd have to open a dispute case with eBay to clear your reputation.

If it came to that, I'd say you'd have a fairly good case as he didn't seek and obtain your agreement on the increased shipping price before acting. Messy all round, though.

Sellers cant leave negative feedback, or at least here they cant

Seems they changed the policy a while back and I missed it. However, they can still ping a buyer for non payment. As I said, this one is messy thanks to the seller not communicating properly with the buyer.

I contacted the guy tonight and explained to him my position. He seemed to concede it was his problem and that he would wear the loss.
It seems to me in my business if I stuff up its my problem not the customers.
I feel terrible. Hopefully he learns from it as I will when communicating with sellers to not make a decision on my behalf.
