Sirfixalot,
Car is in holding yard until we agree on who will fix it.

I'm thinking there may be a few parts to getting this going again, and this may be done by different repairers,
1. Subframe check and suspension repairs,
2. Motor repairs,
3. Body work and replace damaged wheels,

Manny thanks for the offer regarding parts, I'll let the repairer know about the parts and discuss how they will source. First thing I will need to get the assessor to look at it and discuss repairer options?

Cheers, lefty

Hi,
Whilst repairs continue there may be an oportunity to replace the exhaust. The current system sounds sweet, but is damaged.
The currnet system ends up in one pipe travelling under the RHS of the car. I have noticed there are two cutouts in the cross member and was wondering if a twin pipe system was better?
Will it breathe better?
Does the single pipe system provide something that may be lost with a twin system?
Will it sound as good?

May thanks in advance for your response?
Cheers

Could have been worse, I'm good, no other cars involved, just a very second hand vette and some kerbing to repair.

Single pipe is to allow a single catalytic converter (saves cost, weight and heat exposure). Twin system will definitely breath better but would require 2 cats to be legal. If that's not an issue for you, go the twin system.  :thumb:

Jethros
Shannons are fantastic
I called them straight after the accident waiting for a tow, they were great, stepped me through what I needed to know and didn't overwhelm me with to much information,
Called them back the same afternoon, paid the excess, and advise them of the preferred repairer, based on a mates and the forums feedback,
Quoting took a while given Easter est, the assessor inspected and called me to say repairs are approved and provided some good advice.
The suspension is being repaired at NSC racing, and the body work at Detroit body works.
So far I'm impressed. I haven't found any other insurer offering the service level offered by shannons and their friendliness.

Cheers,

I have a drag link, idler arm, pitman arm which should get it steering straight, & a trailing arm not sure which side, where is the car?

Suffix a lot

Referring to the above offer would you have or be able to make a drag link for. 79 RHD vette or know where one could be made. This one item is proving elusive for the completion of the underbody works.
Many thank and cheers

Lefty

Drag link used on RHD is usually an xw xy ford. The drag link is forged steel & could be pressed back to shape then x-rayed. I  have a jig to check if it is correct & can press it back  straight. got any pics

Hi
Repairs to the car are almost compete with only paint and some adjustments left. There is a slight snag, my 79 has a black aluminium air dam under the car to direct sir into the radiator. It's a fairly robust plaice and the repairer can only source one in fibreglass which I don't feel will be as durable.

Does anyone kno where this part may be sourced locally, otherwise it will need to be manufactured.

Many thank in advance

Cheers

Are we talking about the flat panel under radiator with 3 holes in it boomerang shaped or the small spoiler which goes from guard to guard behind bumper overiders

Thanks Sirfixalot. Apprected

I'm still keen on the aluminium one as it was on the car before the incident. There apparently is a fibreglass one but I'm thinking it won't last well.

You vet.
Yes 79 vet is back - almost. Car was finished but just a fee minor issues for rectification after first run.
Ncs did a great job on the underbody. It took ages but worth the wait. New mufflers are loud.

Detroit body works did a great colour matching the custom red.

Just need to work out the best way to buy a set of new mickey Thompson 255/60/15 and get a radiator flush.

Any ideas on the tyres?

Cheers

Competition Engines sometimes have good specials and are cheaper than Rocket, but with delivery added unless it is a good special the pricing ends up the same. I just got 2 sportsman S/R 28X12X15LR (295X50X15) that cost $680 picked up. :yap:
