As a teenager I dreamed of owning a C3 Corvette, my favourite sports car. At that time the closest I got was a 1948 Morris 8 Series E, in British Racing Green. After a long wait to 2008 my dreams became a reality, finally taking ownership of a 77 Coupe (auto) which was imported in 2005 from Auburn Indiana. It turned out to be in fairly original condition, and with matching numbers the base 180hp engine still purrs along nicely which I suspect had been reconditioned somewhere along the way. A pity they detuned engines during that time because it does lack the torque of earlier models. Though the 'Corvette Tan' colour wasn't my preferred choice, it has grown on me. I have since learnt that people either love it or hate it. With only 4580 ever being produced in that colour, makes it a little different - I'll never be able to hide.... The few bucks spent on it has brought the car up to near original and of a newer appearance, though I prefer the hood to be closed with the engine bay out of sight. I quickly adjusted to the long sleek nose and left-hand drive, now having done many enjoyable miles in it.
