There's a hillclimb hosted by the Newcastle MG Car Club at Ringwood (hillclimb track just off the Pacific Highway on Italia Rd, ~10 minutes North of Raymond Terrace) on this Sunday. Wide range of entries, open wheelers, sports cars, sedans. I've entered in my Vette, but don't expect to be overly competitive as it's only the second event I've driven the car in, and the first at Ringwood. Online entries have closed, but entries will be available on the day, or just come and spectate, it's a good spectator track as you can see basically the whole track at once. If anyone does come, feel free to come and say hello.

Entry information: http://www.mgcarclub.com.au/event/hillclimb-a4-2/

Need a Helmet, neck to wrist to ankle cotton or other fireproof clothing (I wear a long sleeve shirt and jeans or cargo pants), and a fire extinguisher in a metal bracket within reach of driver (available from all auto stores, most hardwares etc). Have to attach a blue triangle to mark battery location, and some numbers (both can be made from tape if needed). You do need to be a member of a CAMS accredited club and have a CAMS L2S license, but I expect this can probably be arranged on the day if needed (contact the organizers I guess). Event information/entry forms are here: http://www.mgcarclub.com.au/event/hillclimb-a5-2/ or you can enter online via CAMS MEE if you already have a CAMS license/login etc.

Here are the track layouts: https://www.mgcarclub.com.au/club-info/ringwood/tracks-2/

Here's a couple of vids of me running the A4 track layout last month (this week's event is on the A5 layout). Excuse my slightly sloppy driving, I'm still getting the hang of the car, this was the first time I really competed in it. These are both of my 3rd run for the day, I didn't get any video of my 4th run which was over a second quicker.

In car:

My wife took this on her phone from the spectator viewing area on the opposite hill. You can also get up around the top loop of the track to watch from there.:

It's a tight little track, but tons of fun!

Be a good day out

Definitely, great fun! My car's developed a miss, but hopefully I'll have it sorted for Sunday.

Definitely. Any car can run, provided it's safe (very basic brake/leak/suspension/steering/belt check) and has an extinguisher... I'd love to see it up here, sure be a handful on the tight track! Others run everything from sports sedans, to open wheelers, to concourse perfect sports cars to stock ratty beaters. Run what ya brung!

Doesn't need to be road registered. As I say, you can run basically anything.

The only thing that may be a problem is noise its 154DB at 7500 rpm

most tracks these days require mid 90`s so you may have to do a little work there.

Of course, it depends how close and what angle you're at when measuring it too.

154db
no mater where you set up the testing gear, you will not loose 60db
unless you set up to test on a different track to the one the car it running on.

Sound level drops roughly 6dB for each double of distance. Most track day noise limits are measured from 15-20m, that will be very different to a level measured at the tailpipe for example. Don't know where the above level was measured, just mentioning it.

The regs we deal with lay out Specific Criteria for testing.
set distance from the outlet at a specific angle.
bit hard to fiddle  the results.
